Literally translating to ‘of barley’ in old english, bærlic reiterates the fundamental idea that all things, no matter how complex or involved, can always be traced backward to a single, simple core or point of view.

Our point of view comes from a belief that we are all in this together and that our actions shape our world – by being honest, we are approachable; by being consistent, we are trusted; by being considerate, we can sleep at night; and by choosing to keep it simple, we are able to do this really well.

CLASSIC CREAM ALE

A brazen take on the style, our classic cream ale is as complex as it is refreshing. Aromas of hop spice and lemon balance perfectly with a soft and fluffy malt body. Brewed with Himalayan Basmati Rice.

INVINCIBLE

INDIA PALE ALE

Aromas of candied citrus, strawberry and resinous pine strike an epic balance with its slightly sweet malt body. This beer finishes dry and drinks beautifully til the very last drop.

Our Brewery & Taproom is located in the Hosford-Abernathy neighborhood near Ladd’s Addition in Southeast Portland, Oregon. We try our damndest to have 12 taps flowing at all times, but sometimes the beer gets the best of us. We fill growlers, sell pints and tasters, sell merchandise, and on Saturdays we provide brewery tours during regular business hours. And although we don’t currently serve food, we encourage you to bring your own or order in from other restaurants in the hood. See what’s currently on tap.

WHAT THE HELL IS A BAERLIC?

Say bear-lick…like a bear licking the foam off a frosty mug. Etymologically, it’s an old-english adjective meaning “of barley.” As in there’s beer and then there’s baerlic beer! But feel free to use it whenever you want to describe something that you can’t get enough of. As in: “These waffles are baerlic!”

THE WHO’S WHO OF WHAT’S WHAT

Born out of an undying passion for the perfect pint of beer, Baerlic Brewing Company is a collaborative entity created by us, Ben Parsons and Richard Hall. After years of brewing on the small scale in a basement and winning numerous awards in amateur competitions all over the region, we decided that we should finally give in to the voices in our heads and move toward a small scale production brewery and taproom.

When we say The Beer Here Is Near And Dear, we mean it. We strive to work in as close a proximity as possible for all our ingredients, materials, vendors, supplies, and suppliers. And that allows us to absolutely love the beer that we brew.
